Antique French Bru Jne 7 Bisque Doll 20" circa 1882 — Transitional Body with Brevete Look
A magnificent 20" (51 cm) antique French Bru Jne 7 bisque head doll, circa 1882 — a rare transitional example displaying the coveted Brevete facial look with authentic Bru markings, highly sought after by serious collectors worldwide.
She features a bisque swivel head on a kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled bosom — a hallmark of fine Bru craftsmanship. Her face is exquisitely detailed with very full cheeks, brown glass paperweight eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroke brows, shaded nostrils, and a closed mouth with beautifully shaded and outlined lips. Her ears are pierced. The gold colored silk onher dress is deteriorating as seen in pictures
She wears a sparse blonde mohair wig over cork pate. Her kid leather body features gusset-jointing at hips and knees, one-piece curved upper arms, and bisque arms from below the elbows — all consistent with authentic Bru construction of the period.
Marks: No. 7 on one shoulder plate, Bru Jne on the other. Head is unmarked, which is not unusual for this model.
Condition: Generally excellent — no chips, cracks, or hairlines to the bisque head or lower bisque arms. A truly exceptional example in outstanding original condition.
